AB 1788 CAN'T WAIT!  Sign the online petition

Despite enormous support, the rodenticide bill known as AB 1788 was turned into a two-year bill in August, meaning this bill will be shelved until 2020. While this delay may allow time to ensure that legislators move forward with a passable and enforceable bill, our wildlife continue to suffer, as reported in the LA Times

In August 2019, AB 1788 was turned into a two-year bill, meaning it will be shelved until early 2020. While AB 1788 received widespread support as an effective protection for the estimated 75% of California's wildlife who have been exposed to rodenticide, opposition from the pest control industry jeopardized the successful passage of the bill.

While this delay may allow time to ensure that legislators move forward with a passable and enforceable bill, our wildlife continue to suffer in the meantime. In October 2019, the coalition of organizations supporting AB 1788 sent a letter to Governor Newsom, urging him to place a moratorium on second generation anticoagulant rodenticide until the bill can be finalized. You can read this letter here.

How can you help?

  1. Sign the online petition to add your voice to the organizations above and tell Governor Newsom we must have a moratorium on these harmful poisons in California!

  2. Stay poison-free and continue to spread the word about the harmful effects of rodenticide.

  3. Read more about it here http://www.clawonline.org/banratpoison
